Whenever a man goes for Hajj or Umrah, they are required to wear two pieces of white cloth. A woman who goes for Umrah or Hajj is required to wear whatever she feels comfortable in, but should restrain from wearing any perfume, etc.
What is the wisdom behind doing this? Is there any significance in wearing and being in the state of Ihraam?
The ihram does not refer just to the physical clothing, it refers to the entire state of being. When in a state of ihram, you are abstaining from things that are usually allowed. You are removing yourself and your ego from everything material...
